FAQs

Here are some frequently asked questions – and answers – which we hope are useful.

I’d like to get a feel for the club before I join – is that possible?
Yes – you are very welcome to come along to one of our club sessions (see the next question for details) – just email us to let us know when you plan to come along and we’ll make sure there’s someone there to welcome you and introduce you to other members.  Bring your racket.

I haven’t got a regular partner – if I join the club who will I play with?
During the summer months, our ‘club sessions’ on Wednesday and Thursday evenings (6.30 – dusk) and Sunday (11am – 1pm approx) are open to all members so anyone can come along and there will always be someone there to play some tennis with.  Everyone mixes in and then swaps around after four games,  so you get to play with different members playing at a number of levels.  Our winter tennis sessions at Leeds Met are similar opportunities to play with other members.

We can also put you in touch with other members who may also be looking for a regular tennis partner to play ‘off peak’.

If I join can I then play with non-members on the courts?
Non-members can play on the St Chad’s courts as guests of club members 3 times – then they are no longer covered by our  insurance and therefore not allowed legally to use them.

Can I park by the courts?
Yes – there are notices up but as Club members you are allowed to park by the courts.

Does the club host social events?
Yes! Our social events include a Garden Party after the American tournament; an annual Dinner/Dance in winter/early Spring; Christmas party; and Fun Day/Open Afternoon for potential new  members usually in the middle of Wimbledon fortnight.

All members who are registered with the LTA can enter our Wimbedon Draw to buy pairs of tickets which have been allocated to our club – an exciting evening in April.
